ASÉ Wrestling Returns to Charlotte for Black August
ASÉ Wrestling is set to return to Charlotte for its next live pro wrestling event.
The Black-owned pro wrestling promotion announced that ASÉ Wrestling: Black August will take place on Saturday, Aug. 1, at 6 p.m. at Piedmont Open IB Middle School in Charlotte, North Carolina.
General admission tickets are available for $15, while children’s tickets are $10. The event will once again feature the unique blend of professional wrestling, music, and community that has helped establish ASÉ Wrestling as one of the fastest-rising independent promotions.
While the official match card has yet to be announced, Black August arrives with major questions following the promotion’s blockbuster event, The World Is Yours.
Yahya Earns a Future ASÉ Championship Opportunity
At The World Is Yours, ASÉ Wrestling presented the first 30-Man Rumble Match in company history.
When the dust settled, “The Gifted One,” Yahya outlasted the field to earn one of the most valuable prizes in the promotion: a future ASÉ Men’s Championship match at a time of his choosing.
The victory immediately changed the championship landscape.
Yahya now holds the power to challenge reigning champion Darius Carter whenever he believes the opportunity is right. Whether he chooses to strike at Black August or waits for another stage remains one of the biggest questions surrounding the event.
Darius Carter Continues His Historic Championship Reign
If Yahya decides to cash in his opportunity, he’ll be targeting one of the most dominant champions in independent wrestling.
Known as “The All-Father” and “The Technical Terror,” Darius Carter has held the ASÉ Men’s Championship for well over a year, building a reign defined by technical excellence, psychological warfare and an uncanny ability to escape with the title.
Carter captured the inaugural championship in late 2024 after controversially inserting himself into the tournament finals, a decision that immediately made him one of the promotion’s most despised competitors.
Since then, he has defended the championship against some of professional wrestling’s top names.
Including former Ring of Honor World Champion Jonathan Gresham, ASÉ founder Darius Lockhart, and veteran standout Caprice Coleman. Each successful defense has only strengthened Carter’s claim that he is the rightful standard-bearer of ASÉ Wrestling.
Love him or hate him. Carter has become the measuring stick for anyone hoping to call themselves the best in ASÉ.
The Next Chapter Begins at Black August
Founded by Charlotte native Darius “The Revolutionary” Lockhart. ASÉ Wrestling has carved out a unique identity by blending elite professional wrestling with Black culture, live music, and community engagement.
Since launching in late 2023. The promotion has hosted standout events featuring nationally recognized talent, championship rivalries, and appearances by wrestling legends while continuing to grow its presence in Charlotte and beyond.
Now, the independent wrestling promotion turns its attention to Black August.
